Definition of  a RECORDING  production :

A recording productions, except for very rare cases that do not make text, are the compromise between different conflicting needs. The recording product represents the mediation between artistic performance, manipulation of content in the recording and post-production phase and the needs of the market to which the product is addressed.

The task of a sound system:

A Hi-Fi playback system has the task of reproducing faithfully as contained in the recording, which for what just stated does not have in any case the aim and possibility to represent an event "musical" in a strictly real way... but its mediated discographic interpretation. The multiple techniques of microphone recording and production modifications mean that there are no unique elements to be referred to.

The audio system as a chain of reproduction :

An audio reproduction system is made up of elements
 (equipments) connected in cascade with different functions among them, where the musical message (signal), in its characterization and qualitative/quantitative parameters, can only be ( in the best case) been maintained and never been improved. The final result of this chain, for each parameter taken into consideration, will be equal to that of the chain LINK having LESS fidelity, the concept of the weakest LINK.

Better or different ?

Each component of a reproduction chain can be replaced with one of different type which, instrumentally or subjectively, will change the performance of the system.
In the absence of an absolute reference, it will never be possible to know whether this change constitutes an increase in fidelity or simply represents something which, although favourably perceived, is simply different.


The reference:

Only the attendance of live music concerts, in musical genres with little or no use of electronic amplification, will create over time a strictly personal reliable critical capacity in the listener's consciousness. This, once formed and always evolving, will serve to recognize and pursue in the music reproduced those elements that characterize a greater similarity to the real sound. Should be  prioritize  timbre, tone, micro and macro dynamic contrast, attack times and decay of notes (elements that define a musical interpretation) instead of the illusory search of an "absolute sound" which simply does not exist for what we knows and explained above.
